A friend yesterday got me thinking about scents being tied to our memory. I can relate. I remember being in a bed and breakfast down south and waking up to the smell of bacon, eggs, bisquits and gravy cooking while asleep under a quilt. I was immediately taken back to my grandparent's house (Papaw and Memom). As a kid, I would love to wake up to these scents and listen to my grandparent's laugh as Papaw picked on Memom. (as he always did in such a sweet way) So, here are a few of my instant scents that take me to a place in my memory...
*Beautiful perfume and Juicy Fruit gum remind me of Memee (grandmother) and how she would take me shopping while looking gorgeous and chomping on juicy fruit.
*A certain cologne (not sure of the name) reminds me of mornings... sounds odd, but my dad always left super early for work. When I would wake up, you could smell his cologne still in their room and the kitchen.
*Big Red (as it does for Katy) makes me think of my grandparent's and the gin in cotton center
*Baking blueberry muffins put me at the first day of school ever year. that is what my mom would make, we all love her muffins
Maybe my jog down memory lane, courtesy of Katy, will take you down your own look back with smiles.
